h-all of the above
When we first announced we were opening Hall of the Above, we had a big list in the window of all of the types of events you could hold in this amazing space, with the “correct answer” being (H)All of the Above.
A few years in, and we’ve gotten to check a lot of these off our list!
Many we have yet to host (let us know if you have plans for any of the below and maybe we’ll cut you a deal?), but we thought we’d share a few highlights here:
☑ Wedding
We’ve had lots of these so far! The main hall is great for hosting the ceremony, reception, or both! See all the reasons we think it’s a great wedding venue here. 💒
☑ hoedown
Our many Line Dancing Nights count for this, no? We’ve had the great pleasure of hosting Grapevine Dance leading us on many a line dance, and if you don’t have the western gear, Mad Chicks Hat Bar has been known to bring her handmade hats for purchase. 🤠
☐ Art Exhibition
☐ Birthday Party
☑ B’Mitzvah
☐ Workshop
☐ Pie Eating Contest
☐ Graduation
☑ Quinceañera
☑ Awards Ceremony
Do appreciation dinners count? We think so! Teams like Hansel Auto Group have had beautiful dinners honoring their employees in the space.
☐ Chess Tournament
☑ Casino Night
The Petaluma High School Athletic Boosters made great use of the space for their fundraiser, with both a live and silent auction, a speakeasy bourbon bar, champagne lounge, dance floor, and of course, casino games!
☐ Bake Sale
☐ Sand Mandala Ritual
☑ Crafternoon
The 707 Journal Club and Bay Area Junk Journal Club will be hosting a junk journal and stationery market June 20, 2026, complete with workshops!
☑ Fundraiser
We love to see the community gather for something meaningful. Events like the Festival of Trees by the Fabulous Women of Petaluma are beautiful in the space!
☑ Book Fair
The Velvet Chapter Bookshop hosted their Prelude to the Bay Area Book Festival with us, featuring local authors and vendors, and themed treats and experiences.
☑ Pot Luck
For a cheap way to host a gathering, look no further than the classic pot luck! Who says you need a big milestone to get your friends and family together? HOTA founders Jen Jerde and Daniel Castor host a yearly winter solstice party in the space, and it’s BYODish!
☐ Farmer’s Market
☐ Cross Fit Rodeo
☐ Geometry Experience
This hasn’t happened yet… but we have plans for 2027! We hope to bring some of Daniel Castor’s creations to the space so you can climb inside the giant Camera Obscura or geodesic disco ball.
☐ Antiques Faire
☐ Haunted House
☐ Product Launch
☐ Family Reunion
☐ Symposium
☑ Photo Shoot
This one is a bit of a stretch, but we hosted an Event Planner Showcase that we got the hall all gussied up for, and did our own photoshoot of the space. Doesn’t she look pretty?
☑ Concert Series
Not Loud Concerts coming later this year!
☐ Memorial
☑ Wreath Making Workshop
The upstairs mezzanine looking all cozy for wreath making at a private holiday party, with music and food downstairs in the main hall.
☐ Yoga Class
☐ Pop-Up Petting Zoo
The bank across the street hosted this back in the day, and we hope to make this happen someday at Hall of the Above!
☑ Wine Tasting
Of sorts! Barber Cellars hosted their holiday food fair with us and many things were tasted—including wine!
☐ Hackathon
☐ Fashion Show
We came close! At our centennial celebration in April 2026, we had a presentation about fashion in the 1920s. Pictured here are Leif and Sheri Ortegren in front of Hall of the Above. A functional 1926 Model T completes the scene. ✨
☐ Poetry Slam
☐ Bingo Parlor
☐ Ping-Pong Tournament
☑ Salsa Night
☑ Swing dance night
We hope everyone has been able to come for a dance night at Hall of the Above. We have to sell tickets to cover the cost of the bands, instructors, and staff, but the intention of Salsa, Swing, and Line Dancing Nights are really to open the building up to the community for everyone to enjoy. ❤️
